DESPITE BIG TALK ON CLIMATE, BLACKROCK IS STILL THE WORLD'S BIGGEST INVESTOR IN FOSSIL FUELS.
BlackRock CEO Larry Fink promised in January to "transform finance" in the face of the climate crisis.
Yet his company is a big problem.
With over $6 trillion in capital under management, BlackRock remains the world's leading investor in fossil fuels, providing the companies most responsible for the climate crisis continued investment capital to grow.
BlackRock's coal exclusion policy only covers 20% of the world's coal companies. It has no policy on oil and gas. It has no policy on deforestation, the second biggest cause of climate disruption. It has no policy on Indigenous rights or human rights violations.
It has also failed to vote for climate resolutions at many major polluters this spring, despite many public promises to support climate action at companies it owns.
That's why we are calling on people to send Larry Fink and BlackRock a message: until your company takes action, your talk is hot air.
