  • BlackRock becomes top target of Arctic drilling campaign

Asset Manager is one of the top shareholders at BP, ConocoPhillips, and Chevron, the top extractors in the Arctic who are violating the rights of the Gwich'in Indigenous peoples.

As the outgoing Trump administration rushes last minute plans to drill in the Arctic, a powerful new video is making the rounds talking about the funders standing behind the oil companies.

Singling out BlackRock, whose CEO Larry Fink says the right things on climate change and limiting investments in fossil fuels, yet remains the top shareholder in each of the giant oil companies looking to drill in one of the most sensitive ecosystems left on Earth.

The video features Bernadette Demientieff, the Executive Director of the Gwich’in Steering Committee, talking about the threat to her home and why the Gwich’in are taking on BlackRock:

“BlackRock has a choice on how they want to be known in the history books. As one of the people that destroyed one of the last untouched ecosystems in the world? Or ones that helped protect it?”
