The September Swarm on BlackRock continues as activists in Geneva, Paris, Hungary, and Athens confront the asset manager for its inaction on climate and Floridians call the asset manager out for contributing to Miami's floods
(September 30, 2020) --Over the past few days, we have had Swarm protests at BlackRock offices all over the globe! Activists in South Florida paid visits to BlackRock's offices in Miami and Boca Raton and told BlackRock to stop fueling Miami's floods.
Blackrock has also been hit by protests across Europe: Paris, Brussels, Athens, Berlin, Geneva, Zurich and a very special group of activists in Hungary. Who's a good dog? (Tweet their cuteness!)
In Zurich, a Blackrock employee asked if all the protests across Europe were connected and said Blackrock had tried to change. An activist told him in a kind but clear way that "hard facts tell the opposite and because of that we will meet again."
Upcoming actions include Chicago, New York, London and San Francisco.
Our Swarm concludes on October 2nd when we will be delivering our action images to BlackRock and taking part in Stop the Money Pipeline's Stop Funding Tar Sands: A Day of Solidarity with Frontline Communities.
At 11:00 am Pacific, 2:00 pm Eastern, we're taking action with an incredible lineup of speakers from the frontlines of the fight to stop tar sands extraction, transportation, and refining. We'll be live streaming from actions happening on the streets at BlackRock's headquarters in New York City, San Francisco, and London, UK.
